Kicking off our third Cross The Tracks Thursday takeover, London-based, genre-bending band Zeñel bring their electrifying live show to Freight Brixton on Thursday, 4th June.
Fusing jazz improvisation with electronic styles like Grime, UK Drill, Drum & Bass, and Afrobeats, Zeñel are known for their unique use of MIDI and computer-based sound design in a fully live, organic setting.
Led by trumpeter and producer Laurence Wilkins, with drummer Zoe Pascal and keyboard virtuosos Jay Verma and Alex Wilson, the band creates a poetic, high-energy fusion of jazz and electronic dance music.
Key releases include the Extreme Sports EP (2020), the Zeñel 5IVE album (2023), and the forthcoming TILDE EP (2024/25). They’ve performed at Ronnie Scott’s, Love Supreme, Brainchild Festival, Southbank Centre, and the London Jazz Festival, gaining acclaim on Worldwide FM and BBC Radio 3. Expect heavy grooves, experimental sounds, and a truly immersive live experience.
