Lost Tape x Broken Soul, Mixed by Che Wax: Kendrick Lamar & Gil Scott Heron
Before Kendrick Lamar, there was Gil Scott-Heron. He laid the groundwork for conscious rap through spoken word and fearless social commentary, drawing on the East Coast jazz poets of the Harlem Renaissance to turn poetry into a political force. Decades later, Kendrick Lamar picked up the mic and carried that same tradition forward, rooted in West Coast hip-hop and built for the mainstream stage. When he quoted "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" during his Super Bowl halftime show, he was pointing straight back to where it all started.
The Godfather of rap meets his poet laureate.
Lost Tapes asks the question: what would a collaboration between these two sound like? Through DJs, live performance and visuals, we imagine the album that history never gave us, live on London's Largest Rooftop mixed by the legendary Ché Wax.

SOLA AKINGBOLA & THE EEGUNS RHAPSODY- EFG London Jazz Festival - SPICEJAZZ
Solá Akingbolá presents How Should I… – Black Atlantic Funk
Percussionist, composer and vocalist Solá Akingbolá spent over 25 years as the rhythmic heartbeat of Jamiroquai, co-producing the groove on their last seven albums, and has worked with David Bowie, Stevie Wonder and Damon Albarn. A two-time BMI Award-winning composer, his music has also graced the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre stages.
Now he brings his most personal project yet to Freight Brixton. Recorded in part at Abbey Road, How Should I… fuses Yoruba drum language with funk, jazz, spoken word and orchestral textures, a journey through migration, memory and belonging that Solá calls Black Atlantic Funk.
Expect deep grooves, big percussion and a world-class six-piece band.
Lost Tape x Broken Soul, Mixed by Che Wax: Prince & Jamiroquai
Before Jamiroquai took acid jazz to the global dancefloor, there was Prince. He laid the groundwork for futuristic funk, blending R&B, rock, and synth-pop with an unmatched, flamboyant genius that turned the groove into an absolute force of nature. Decades later, Jay Kay and Jamiroquai picked up the rhythm and carried that same cosmic, genre-defying energy forward, rooted in deep disco-soul and built for the modern era. When Jamiroquaisings of cosmic girls and virtual insanity, they are riding the very same wave of stardust that Prince first unleashed on the world.
The Purple One meets the Space Cowboy.
Lost Tapes asks the question: what would a collaboration between these two sound like? Through DJs, live performance and visuals, we imagine the album that history never gave us, live on London's Largest Rooftop mixed by the legendary Ché Wax.
Soul Of The South: Ruby Rushton x Ebi Soda
Cross The Tracks' weekly jazz session brings two of the UK scene's most exciting bands together at London's largest rooftop venue for one night of heavy grooves and fearless improvisation.
Ruby Rushton are the Tenderlonious-led outfit at the heart of the 22a label and one of the most forward-thinking bands to come out of London's jazz underground. Their sound draws on the spiritual lineage of Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and Yusef Lateef, then pushes it into new territory with afrobeat, Latin and hip hop rhythms. Expect deep, driving, dancefloor-ready jazz from a band that has helped shape the modern UK scene.
Ebi Soda are the Tru Thoughts quintet who look like a jazz band but sound like something else entirely. Dubbed-out effects, funky basslines and post-punk grit collide with smooth melodies, broken rhythms and blistering solos, tight one moment, gloriously chaotic the next. From sold-out bedroom-recorded EPs to acclaimed albums Ugh and Honk If You're Sad (featuring Yazz Ahmed), they've become one of the most distinctive voices in British jazz.
Two bands. One stage. South London soul, on London's Largest Rooftop!
