Solá Akingbolá presents How Should I… – Black Atlantic Funk

Percussionist, composer and vocalist Solá Akingbolá spent over 25 years as the rhythmic heartbeat of Jamiroquai, co-producing the groove on their last seven albums, and has worked with David Bowie, Stevie Wonder and Damon Albarn. A two-time BMI Award-winning composer, his music has also graced the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre stages.

Now he brings his most personal project yet to Freight Brixton. Recorded in part at Abbey Road, How Should I… fuses Yoruba drum language with funk, jazz, spoken word and orchestral textures, a journey through migration, memory and belonging that Solá calls Black Atlantic Funk.

Expect deep grooves, big percussion and a world-class six-piece band.
