NEW ADDITION TO SOUL OF THE SOUTH

Next up in our curated series…

Ashley Henry, award-winning jazz pianist, vocalist, composer, producer and bandleader. His critically acclaimed album Beautiful Vinyl Hunter, released in 2020, was named Jazz Japan's Album of the Year and nominated for BBC 6 Music's Album of the Year, only the second jazz album ever to do so.

Henry's sound reflects his London upbringing and Caribbean roots, genre-bending and collaborative, drawing from classical training and a deep study of the Black radical tradition, its futurism and history, pulse, restlessness and poise. His music is as informed by James Baldwin and Angela Davis as it is by Ahmad Jamal, George Benson, Geri Allen and Aretha Franklin.

Soul of the South celebrates high-quality live music, accessible, authentic, and putting the music back where it belongs.

FREIGHT BRIXTON PRESENTS: SOUL OF THE SOUTH

Two of the UK's most compelling rising voices. One rooftop. This summer.

BaggE is a North London neo-soul singer and songwriter whose sound runs deep, Congolese heritage, jazz-infused vocals, and a lineage that traces back to Etta James, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Featured by Clash Magazine and NME, and with a voice that's travelled as far as a Papa John's international campaign, she's been quietly building something undeniable since 2019.

ROZZZQWEEN is Birmingham-born, London-based, and impossible to ignore. A raspy vocal, fearless stage presence and the kind of emotional range that works as well up close as it does commanding a crowd. BBC Introducing's One To Watch 2026, Artist of the Month, and championed on Radio 1 by Jess Iszatt, she's fast becoming one of the most exciting names in UK music right now.

Catch them both on the rooftop this summer
