We welcome our second Cross The Tracks Thursday takeover with acclaimed R&B and soul artist IYAMAH, on Thursday, 21st May.
Growing up on the sounds of African drumming and reggae in Brighton, IYAMAH began using the piano as a diary-like outlet, developing her songwriting from age twelve, inspired by Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, and India Arie. A Cross The Tracks alumni, she moved to North London to study at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, winning a scholarship for Best Vocals.
Her debut Truth EP.1 gained international attention, leading to tours with Mahalia and Masego. She has performed at festivals including Cross The Tracks, Lost Village, and R&L, and sold out headline shows at London venues like The Jazz Café, O’MEARA, and Lafayette. With over 35 million streams and support from BBC Introducing, BBC 1Xtra, Elton John, and The Joe Budden Podcast, IYAMAH continues to impress.
Known for her soulful R&B style, which she calls “Rootsy Soul,” she blends her musical influences into storytelling focused on identity, self-worth, and female empowerment.
